No. 1/2 Men and Women's Swimming and Diving wins Friday night session at Eddie Reese Texas Showdown

Longhorns post 791 points, sweeping multiple events and both 3-meter diving titles.
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 1 / 2 Texas Swimming & Diving turned in a complete, across-the-board performance Friday night at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown evening session, building a commanding lead in the combined team standings with 791 points, ahead of Louisville (666) and Ohio State (593), behind wins in the pool and on the boards and scoring contributions in every event at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas opened the evening session with a strong showing in the medley relays. The men's 200-yard medley relay of Will Modglin, Nate Germonprez, Hubert Kos and Garrett Gould captured the event title in 1:22.01, while the Longhorn B relay followed closely in third (1:24.23). On the women's side, the Texas A relay placed second in 1:36.34 behind a lineup of Emma Kern, Angie Coe, Campbell Stoll and Eva Okaro.
In individual action, Rex Maurer highlighted the distance events by winning the men's 500-yard freestyle in 4:09.13, with Cooper Lucas adding a runner-up finish. Jillian Cox continued Texas' momentum on the women's side, claiming the 500 free title in 4:34.28, while Nikolett Padar followed with a third-place finish.
In the women's 200 freestyle, Nikolett Padar led Texas with a runner-up finish in 1:43.12, followed closely by Lillian Nesty (1:43.86) in third. Erin Gemmell nabbed the B final, placing ninth overall (1:43.72), while Campbell Chase finished 11th (1:46.19).
Texas controlled the men's 500 freestyle, led by Rex Maurer's event victory in 4:09.13. Cooper Lucas (4:16.18) followed in second, giving the Longhorns a one-two finish. Aiden Hammer and Alec Enyeart also contributed scoring swims, placing ninth (4:16.01) and 10th, respectively (4:18.03).
The women's 100 backstroke saw Emma Kern finish second in 51.98, with Campbell Stoll adding a fourth-place result (52.85). Sarah Rodrigues won the B final to place ninth overall (52.78), while Sienna Schellenger rounded out the Texas scorers in 11th (54.22).
In the men's 100 backstroke, Texas delivered another statement performance as Modglin won the event in 44.45, narrowly edging teammate Kos, who finished second (44.48). Kyle Peck and Ksawery Masiuk added depth for the Longhorns with ninth (45.76) and 11th place finishes (46.86).
Texas continued to score in the women's 100 breaststroke, led by Angie Coe's fourth-place finish in 1:00.63. Campbell Chase followed in sixth (1:01.77), while Avery Collins and Lindsey Hosch placed 12th (1:01.84) and 13th (1:03.25), respectively.
The men's 100 breaststroke belonged to Texas, as Nate Germonprez claimed the event title in 50.86. Campbell McKean followed in second (51.92) to complete the one-two finish, and Will Scholtz placed ninth overall (52.85) after winning the B final.
In the women's 500 freestyle, Jillian Cox delivered one of the standout swims of the night, winning the event in 4:34.28. Padar added a third-place finish (4:39.09), while Kate Hurst won the B final (4:38.54), placing ninth overall. Inez Miller contributed points by placing 11th overall (4:42.70).
Maurer returned to the pool in the men's 200 freestyle, finishing second in 1:32.77. Jacob Wimberly added a sixth-place result (1:36.25), while Evan Bailey won the B final placing ninth overall (1:32.85) and Alexey Glivinskiy finished 10th (1:34.94) to keep Texas scoring deep into the field.
Stoll delivered another victory for Texas in the women's 100 butterfly, touching first in 51.23. Angie Coe finished fourth (52.21), while Alexa Fulton and Ella Mongenel placed 10th (53.83) and 12th (54.57) overall.
The men's 100 butterfly featured two Longhorns earning top spots, as Ksawery Masiuk finished second (45.43) and Kyle Peck placed third (45.56). Ryan Branon won the B final and Holden Smith followed, placing ninth (46.30) and 12th place (64.81) overall finishes.
Sprint success continued in the women's 100 freestyle, where Okaro claimed the event title in 46.71. Gemmell placed fourth (48.20), Nesty won the B final (47.81) finishing ninth overall and Mehraban added a 13th place result (50.24).
Texas placed two swimmers in the top three of the men's 100 freestyle, led by Garrett Gould's runner-up finish in 42.45 and Camden Taylor's third-place performance (42.83). Rafael Fente-Damers and Calvin Fry rounded out the Texas results, placing ninth (42.70) and 10th overall (42.85).
The women's 200 IM saw Texas place three swimmers among the top seven. Coe led the way with a second-place finish in 1:57.48, followed closely by Chase in third (1:57.53). Stoll won the B final to place ninth overall (1:57.35), while Haley McDonald finished 11th (1:59.96).
Texas closed the individual swimming events in dominant fashion in the men's 200 IM. Kos captured the event title in 1:40.69, followed by McKean in second (1:43.02). Spencer Aurnou-Rhees and Alexey Glivinskiy added ninth (1:44.26) and 11th-place finishes (1:47.39).
Relay action wrapped up the swimming portion of the night in emphatic fashion. The Texas men swept the top two spots in the 400 freestyle relay, as the A relay of Masiuk, Gould, Taylor and Maurer won in 2:48.88, followed by the B relay in second (2:49.98). On the women's side, the Texas A relay finished second in 3:11.05, while the B relay placed fourth (3:16.27).
Diving closed the session with Texas claiming both 3-meter springboard titles. Bayleigh Cranford won the women's event with a score of 338.35, followed by Alejandra Estudillo (325.50) in second, while Sarah Carruthers placed sixth (300.25). In the men's event, Nicholas Harris captured first with 403.25 points, Luke Forester finished sixth (352.00) and Jacob Jones placed ninth (337.85).
Texas will wrap up the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown on Saturday (Jan. 24) at a new start time of 9 a.m. CT at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
