No. 3 Softball set for three top-20 tests at Stanford’s DeMarini Invitational

Texas will play No. 16 Arizona twice and No. 10 Stanford once in addition to games against Boise State and Santa Clara.
STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Texas will open the DeMarini Invitational with a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 20, vs. No. 16 Arizona at 2 p.m. CT followed by a matchup with tournament host and No. 10 ranked Stanford at 4:30 p.m. Both games will be played at Stanford Softball Stadium. Texas' game vs. No. 10 Stanford will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra.
- The Longhorns will face Boise State at 2 p.m. at Stanford Softball Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 21. Texas will then play Santa Clara later in the day at 6:30 p.m. at Santa Clara Softball Stadium. Texas' game at Santa Clara will be closed to the public.
- Texas will conclude the DeMarini Invitational at 11:30 a.m. vs. No. 16 Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Stanford Softball Stadium.
- Only Texas' game vs. No. 10 Stanford will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra. Fans can listen to all five games on Texas' radio broadcast at https://texas.leanplayer.com/ with Andrew Haynes on the call.
- The Longhorns are coming off a 5-0 weekend at the Bevo Classic on Feb. 12-15. Texas run-ruled four of its five opponents during its home opening weekend at McCombs Field.
- Last weekend at the Bevo Classic, C Reese Atwood became the program's career home run leader after demolishing her 59th career home run vs. Abilene Christian on Feb. 12. Atwood currently has 61 career home runs heading into the DeMarini Invitational.
- The Longhorns opened the 2026 campaign at the UTSA Invitational on Feb. 6-8 and finished 4-1 with three top-25 victories.
- Texas is fresh off of the program's first Women's College World Series (WCWS) National Championship in 2025. The Longhorns finished the historic season with a program-record 56 victories and a 56-12 overall record.
- The Longhorns' 10-2 postseason run in 2025 culminated with a 2-1 Championship Series (third appearance in four years) win over Texas Tech. In the winner-takes-all game three, the Longhorns clinched a 10-4 victory.
- Head coach Mike White is in his eighth season at helm of the Texas program and holds a 325-94-2 (.774) overall record during his time on the Forty Acres. In 17 combined seasons between Oregon (nine seasons) and Texas (eight seasons), White sports a 761-205-4 (.787) overall record.
- Following the DeMarini Invitational, Texas returns to the friendly confines of McCombs Field to host Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25. The game will be available on SEC Network+. Texas will then host the Longhorn Invitational on Feb. 27-March 1 at McCombs.

Series History
- Texas and Stanford will meet for the 11th time in history with the Longhorns boasting a 7-3 series advantage vs. the Cardinal. The two teams last faced off during the 2025 regular season with Stanford clinching a 9-5 win on Feb. 21 in Tucson, Ariz. It'll be the first time Texas plays Stanford on the road. The Longhorns and Cardinal have previously played each other in California in a pair of neutral site games in Cathedral City in 2006 and 2008. Texas won both of those games, 2-0 (2006) and 3-1 (2008).
- The Longhorns and Arizona Wildcats will meet for the 27th time in history on Friday with Arizona holding a 16-10 series edge over Texas. The two teams last met in 2025 with Texas defeating Arizona, 8-4 (8 inn.), in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 22. Texas and Arizona will play each other in California for the first time since the 2009 season when the Wildcats claimed a 6-5 victory. Texas and Arizona have tussled five times in California with the Horns posting a 3-2 edge in those matchups. Arizona holds a 10-7 series advantage over Texas in neutral site games.
- Texas and Boise State will clash for just the third time in history with the Longhorns sporting a 2-0 all-time record against the Broncos. They last squared off in 2020 in Fullerton, Calif. Texas won that game, 6-2. The first meeting between Texas and Boise State took place on Feb. 9, 2019, with Texas winning 8-0 (5) in Austin, Texas.
- It'll be the first-ever meeting between Texas and Santa Clara.
Golden State of Mind
- Texas will be playing in California for the first time since the COVID-19 altered 2020 season. The Longhorns played in Judi Garman Classic at Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 28-March 1. The Longhorns went 3-1 that weekend.
- Texas had a 13-year stretch from 2005-17 in which they played in an early non-conference tournament in California.
Returning Home
Texas' roster features two California natives who will be returning to their home state this weekend. Senior outfielder Kaiah Altmeyer is from San Diego and sophomore RHP Cambria Salmon is from Beaumont.
Top 20 Tests
- Texas has a top-20 test at the DeMarini Invitational. The Longhorns will play three games against top-20 ranked opponents over the weekend with two games vs. No 16 Arizona and one game against No. 10 Stanford.
- Texas is 3-1 against ranked opponents this season, splitting a pair of games vs. then-ranked No. 9 Nebraska and sweeping No. 25 Washington at the UTSA Invitational on Feb. 6-8.
- The Longhorns are 270-317-2 all-time vs. ranked opponents.
- Last season, Texas went 22-12 vs. ranked foes. Texas is 12-12 all-time vs. opponents ranked No. 10 while holding an 8-10 mark against opponents ranked No. 16.
