Texas earned a national title in the 800-freestyle relay and a third-place finish in the 200-medley relay.
ATLANTA – Texas Men's swimming and Diving sits in third place with 72 points after the first day of the four-day NCAA Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center. Florida and Indiana are tied for first with 86 points. The Longhorns captured a national title in the 800-yard freestyle relay and added an All-America finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
Texas secured their first national title of the meet in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Rafael Fente-Damers, Camden Taylor, Rex Maurer and Baylor Nelson won the event in 6:05.82, trimming 0.42 seconds off its seed time. The victory marked the sixth 800 free relay title for the Longhorns in the last 10 championships held and the first since 2023. All told, the Longhorns have won the 800-yard freestyle relay national crown 18 times.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Will Modglin, Nate Germonprez, Hubert Kos and Garrett Gould finished third in 1:20.46, improving on its seed time of 1:20.85 to earn All-America honors.
Day two events include the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 1-meter diving and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. CT, with finals scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at the McAuley Aquatic Center with both sessions streaming on ESPN+.
