No. 8 Women’s Tennis earns No. 9 national seed for NCAA Championship

The Longhorns receive a top-16 national seed for the eighth-straight season and will host Texas Tech, Yale and Tarleton State from May 2-3.
Austin – No. 8 Texas Women's Tennis has earned the No. 9 national seed in the 2026 NCAA Championship field, the NCAA announced Monday. The Longhorns will host First and Second Round matches on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at the Texas Tennis Center.
It marks the eighth-straight season the Longhorns have been a top-16 national seed in the tournament. Texas (17-7) will face Tarleton State (17-7) in the first round at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, May 2, while No. 28 Texas Tech (18-10) will meet No. 35 Yale (19-3) in the other first-round match at 10 a.m. CT that day. The two winners will play in the second round at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, May 3.
UT will make its 41st NCAA Championship appearance and has a 71-36 (.664) all-time record in NCAA tourney play. The Longhorns have captured NCAA team titles in 1993, 1995, 2021 and 2022 and earned NCAA runner-up finishes in 1992 and 2005.
It is the 10th-straight year Texas has made the tournament field dating back to 2016. It has reached at least the second round in each of the previous nine, at least the round of 16 in the last five, and at least the quarterfinals in three of the last five.
