Longhorns becomes first college baseball program to reach 1,500 conference wins

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Behind a multi-homer performance from Casey Borba, No. 4 Texas topped Tennessee, 13-6, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Longhorns (37-12, 16-10 SEC) became the first-ever college baseball program to reach 1,500 conference wins.

In the series finale, Texas left the yard four times, highlighted by Borba's two blasts and six RBI.

The junior smacked a solo shot in the opening frame, homering two pitches after Adrian Rodriguez's three-run jack. In the sixth, Borba launched his second career grand slam, ballooning the advantage to 12-4 over the Volunteers (34-18, 13-14 SEC).

His 31^st career blast pushed him into a tie for the ninth-most by a Longhorn in program history, matching Eric Kennedy (2019-23) and Drew Stubbs (2004-06).

Freshman Anthony Pack Jr. also joined the Home Run Derby, delivering a go-ahead shot off the scoreboard in the third.

The offensive outburst proved more than enough for Texas' bullpen, which held Tennessee to just two runs over the last five frames.

Haiden Leffew (4-1) picked up the win in relief, facing one over the minimum across a season-long three scoreless innings. Leffew recorded a season-high five strikeouts.

Starter Ruger Riojas retired 10 of the final 12 batters he faced, bouncing back from Reese Chapman's game-tying slam in the first. Riojas notched his 100^th strikeout of the season, becoming the first Longhorn to accomplish the feat since Lucas Gordon in 2023.

Up next, Texas returns home to wrap up its regular season slate against Missouri at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns' three-game set begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
