-What's at stake
Texas will be attempting reach the NCAA Final Four for the fourth-straight year and the sixth time in the last seven tournaments. In all, the Longhorns have advanced to the semifinals nine times since the tournament moved to its current format in 1977.
-Baylor Series: Texas leads, 87-30-1
Texas leads the all-time series, 87-30-1, including a 4-0 sweep in the previous meeting this season that came in the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships in Dallas on February 16. Two years ago, Texas earned a 7-0 sweep, which was also the last regular-season match ever in the Big 12 for the Longhorns. Texas also secured a 4-0 sweep in Waco in 2023. Prior to that, Baylor had won four-straight and seven of eight. That includes three in 2022 – 6-1 in a non-conference match on Feb. 7 in Waco, 6-0 in conference play on April 1 in Austin, and 4-2 in the Big 12 Championship semifinals in Fort Worth. The teams met four times in 2021 including a non-conference contest in Austin, the quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor Nationals in Champaign, Ill., a conference match in Waco, which the Longhorns won, 5-2, and in the Big 12 Championship final, which was also in Waco. The teams did not meet in 2020 due to the pandemic, however prior to that, Texas had won four of the previous five, including four-straight from 2017-19, until the Bears won in the 2019 Big 12 Championship final.

Texas was tabbed No. 2 in the preseason poll released January 7 by the ITA and ended up cycling back to that position on March 3, moved to No. 3 on March 10 and back to No. 2 on March 31 before moving up to No. 1 on April 7 where it remains through the rankings just released on April 30. In between, the Longhorns were No. 4 on January 21, No. 5 on January 28, No. 7 on February 4, No. 3 on February 19, and back to No. 4 on February 24. It's the 122nd-straight rankings week in the top 15 dating back to April 2018.

-Four-straight Elite Eights
No. 1 Texas Men's Tennis advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight with a 4-1 win over 15 seed No. 17 San Diego on May 8 at the Texas Tennis Center. It marks the fourth-straight year the Longhorns have reached at least the quarterfinals and the sixth time in the last seven. Texas produced one of its best doubles points of the year with decisive wins at Nos. 1 and 2 and then followed with singles victories by Oliver Ojakaar at No. 4, and Lucas Marionneau at No. 6. San Diego picked up its lone point at No. 1, but the clinch for the Longhorns came from Sebastian Eriksson at No. 3. Eriksson had missed the previous two matches in the tournament with an injury but returned to also be a factor in doubles.
-Sweet again for the 12th-straight year
Texas advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 with a pair of 4-0 sweeps over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on May 1 at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center. and No. 32 SMU on May 2 at the Texas Tennis Center. It marks the 12th-straight year the Longhorns have reached at least the round of 16. Against SMU, Texas secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2, and followed with singles victories by Lucas Marionneau at No. 6, Abel Forger at No. 4, and Kalin Ivanovski at No. 2. Meanwhile against TAMCC, Texas took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 3 and 2 and followed with singles victories by Marionneau at No. 5, Mariano Dedura-Palomero at No. 6, and Sebastian Gorzny at No. 1 for the clinch.
-Texas earns No. 2 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Championships
UT earned the No. 2 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Championship field. It marks the fourth-straight year Texas has been a top-three seed, after having been the No. 3 seed last year, No. 2 seed in 2024, and No. 1 seed in 2023. It is also the sixth time in the last seven years the Longhorns have been in the top four after being No. 4 in 2021 and No. 2 in 2019. The tournament was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic. The Longhorns earned their 34th consecutive bid to the NCAA Championships and their 43rd overall selection since the NCAA bracketed tournament was introduced in 1977. They have compiled an 85-41 (.674) all-time record in the tournament. Texas hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Championships for a ninth-straight year and for the 11th time in the last 12 years in which the tournament has been held. Along with winning the 2019 National Championship, the Longhorns were the national runners-up in 2008 and 2024, and additionally made it to the semifinals in 1993, 2006, 2009, 2021, 2023 and 2025. They have reached at least the round of 16 in each of the last 12 years with six quarterfinals appearances in 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025 in that span.
