No. 3 Men’s Golf’s quartet named to PING All-Central Region Team

NORMAN, Okla. — A total of four University of Texas men's golfers have earned spots on the 2026 NCAA Division I PING All-Central Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Saturday. Sophomore Daniel Bennett along with seniors Christiaan Maas, Tommy Morrison and Luke Potter were recognized for their accomplishments on the course this season.
Maas garnered his fourth career PING All-Region honor, while Morrison claimed his third career PING All-Region award (2024, 2025 and 2026). Both Bennett and Potter (2025 and 2026) earned their second career PING All-Region accolades. Texas and Oklahoma State were the only schools in the Central Region to have four selections.
Bennett is ranked No. 15 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 27). A second-team All-SEC selection, he has played in 11 of the team's first 13 events this season and sports a 70.06 stroke average through 33 rounds while recording a pair of runner-up efforts and four top-eight individual finishes. Bennett was recently named to the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup Team International and will compete in that event on July 3-5 in Ireland. He placed second at the Williams Cup (Oct. 19-21) with a 6-under 210 (68-71-71) and tied for second at the season-opening Sahalee Players Championship (Sept. 6-7) with a 2-under 214 (72-69-73).
Maas is ranked No. 4 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 27) and No. 2 in the latest PGA TOUR University Class of 2026 rankings (May 27). He is one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award and one of 10 finalists for the Fred Haskins Award in addition to earning first-team All-SEC honors. Maas has played in 12 of the team's first 13 events this season and sports a team-best 69.44 stroke average through 36 rounds while recording one victory and eight top-eight individual finishes. He claimed medalist honors by two strokes against an elite field at the Southern Highlands Collegiate (March 1-3) with a 10-under 206 (70-68-68). Maas earned low amateur honors and tied for 10th at the DP World Tour's Hero Dubai Desert Classic (Jan. 22-25) with a 6-under 282 (70-71-69-72). He also won the individual title by 10 strokes and paired with teammate Daniel Bennett to pace Team South Africa to the team crown at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships (Oct. 8-11) in Singapore.
Morrison is ranked No. 18 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 27) and No. 5 in the latest PGA TOUR University Class of 2026 rankings (May 27). A second-team All-SEC selection, he has played in 12 of the team's first 13 events this season and sports a 69.81 average through 36 rounds while recording five top-eight individual finishes. Morrison placed fourth at the Arizona N.I.T. (Jan. 26-27) with a 10-under 206 (70-66-70) and tied for fifth at the NCAA Bryan Regional (May 18-19) with a 10-under 206 (72-67-67). He also posted a 2-1 record at the 2025 Walker Cup (Sept. 6-7) and helped Team USA claim a 17-9 victory over Great Britain & Ireland.
Potter is ranked No. 20 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (May 27) and No. 4 in the latest PGA TOUR University Class of 2026 rankings (May 27). A second-team All-SEC selection, he has played in 11 of the team's first 13 events this season and sports a 69.45 stroke average through 33 rounds while recording one victory and six top-10 individual finishes. Potter claimed medalist honors at the NCAA Bryan Regional (May 18-19) with a 17-under 199 (67-64-68). He also recorded a runner-up finish at the Arizona N.I.T. (Jan. 26-27) with a 12-under 204 (66-68-70).
