Alaniz and Boone chosen on second day of 2006 MLB Draft

AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas pitchers Adrian Alaniz and Randy Boone were selected during the second and final day of the 2006 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday, June 7.
While Alaniz (Sinton, Texas) was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 36th round (No. 1096 overall), Boone (Yoakum, Texas) was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 38th round (No. 1146 overall). Their selections give the Longhorns a total of five 2006 draftees as Drew Stubbs, Kyle McCulloch and Carson Kainer were all selected during the first 18 rounds of the draft on Tuesday, June 6.
During their UT careers to date, Alaniz holds a 15-7 record to go along with a 3.38 ERA over two seasons, while Boone has gone 14-7 with a 3.22 ERA during his three years. Additionally, both hurlers have posted over 160 strikeouts and worked 205 and 196 innings, respectively.
