Kyle Russell, Suttle selected in fourth round of 2007 MLB Draft

AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas sophomores Kyle Russell and Bradley Suttle were selected in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Thursday.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Russell with the 147th pick in the draft. This season, the Horns' starting rightfielder has earned first-team Collegiate Baseball All-America, American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Midwest Region, Big 12 Player of the Year and first-team All-Big 12. Russell leads the nation with 28 home runs and ranks sixth with an .807 slugging percentage. He posted a .336 batting average with 68 runs, 71 RBI and 10 stolen bases on the year.
The New York Yankees selected third baseman Bradley Suttle with the 154th pick in the draft. This season, the Horns' starting third baseman, has earned first-team ABCA All-Midwest Region and first-team All-Big 12. Suttle posted a .359 batting average with 49 runs, 17 doubles, 12 home runs and 68 RBI. The switch-hitter logged a .450 on-base percentage and a .603 slugging percentage.
The Longhorns also had one of their fall signees chosen on the first day of the draft. Brandon Workman, a right-handed pitcher from Bowie (Texas) High School was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the third round with the 107th pick.
Five rounds of the draft were completed on Thursday. The draft will finish on Friday with 45 more rounds beginning at 10:30 a.m.
