Tinney propels No. 6 Baseball to 11-6 win over Missouri

Junior becomes just fifth Longhorn to total 20 home runs in a single season
AUSTIN, Texas — Carson Tinney notched his seventh career multi-homer game and plated a career-high six runs, as No. 6 Texas beat Missouri, 11-6, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday night.
Tinney's performance helped the Longhorns (39-12, 18-10 SEC) secure their eighth SEC series victory of the year.
The junior won a 13-pitch battle in the third, depositing an opposite-field two-run blast into Texas' bullpen.
In the fourth, Tinney smacked a 456-foot grand slam to straightaway center, becoming only the fifth Longhorn to reach 20 home runs in a single season.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound backstop cleared the 32-foot "Monster" at UFCU Disch-Falk Field for the fourth time, matching Ivan Melendez (2022) for the most in a campaign since the ballpark opened in 1975.
Tinney's two swings punctuated Texas' 10-0 advantage over the Tigers (23-29, 6-23) after four innings.
Casey Borba and Anthony Pack Jr. also left the yard in the victory.
Borba delivered his 17th blast of the year to lead off the four-run third. It marked the junior's fifth homer in his last eight at-bats. Borba's 33rd career round-tripper moved him into a tie with Scott Bryant (1987-89) for the seventh-most in program history.
Meanwhile, Pack Jr. powered a 426-foot solo shot on the very next pitch after Tinney's second grand slam of the season. The freshman's seventh jack capped off the six-spot in the fourth.
Texas starter Luke Harrison (6-3) allowed four runs across 6 1/3 frames in the winning effort. Harrison cruised through Missouri's lineup through six innings on 84 pitches but ran into trouble in the seventh. The left-hander finished with six strikeouts.
The Longhorns conclude their regular season slate against the Tigers on Saturday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
