Workman fans 11 in first start to lead Baseball to 10-3 win over UT Pan American

AUSTIN, Texas -- Freshman Brandon Workman fanned 11 Broncs over six innings to pick up the win in his first career start, propelling Texas to a 10-3 win over UT Pan American in college baseball action Tuesday evening at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Workman (1-0) yielded two runs on six hits and one walk over his six frames of work. Sophomore Hunter Harris followed with three innings of relief to earn his first career save. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two.
The Longhorns offense was paced by sophomore Brandon Belt who went 2-for-4 with one run and four RBI. Junior Jordan Danks also laced a pair of hits on the day, including a double, and added one run and one RBI. Junior Travis Tucker scored three runs and added three stolen bases on the afternoon.
Abraham Garcia and Billy Donaho each had two hits for UT Pan American.
Doug Roth (0-1) was saddled with the loss after allowing both the batters he faced to reach on walks and score to start a five-run fifth inning for the Longhorns. Philip Rodriguez pitched four strong innings to start the game for UTPA, allowing just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out four.
Texas and UT Pan American wrap up the two-game series with a 2:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
