No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving falls to No. 3 Arizona, 204-149

Complete Results |AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 1 Texas collected individual wins from swimmers Dave Walters and Michael Klueh and diver Drew Livingston, but it was not enough, as No. 3 Arizona stretched its opening-day lead and finished with a 204-149 victory in the two-day dual meet that completed Saturday at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
The Wildcats opened day two with a win in the 200 medley relay before Texas responded with a one-two finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Klueh took first in 15 minutes, 14.95 seconds, and freshman Jackson Wilcox took second in 15:17.22 while edging an Olympian, Arizona's Jean Basson. The 200 freestyle featured five Beijing Olympians, and the Wildcats' Joel Greenshields prevailed in 1:35.35. UT's Walters took second in 1:36.17.
Junior Hill Taylor took second in the 100 backstroke in 48.66, and Arizona's Jake Tapp took the top spot in 48.24. Wilcox and sophomore Matt Donch took the second and third spots in the 200 butterfly, where they finished in 1:48.32 and 1:48.34, respectively. Walters rallied from behind to run down Arizona's Jordan Smith in the 50 freestyle, where he prevailed in 20.25.
Junior Ricky Berens led the Texas contingent in the 200 IM, where he took second in 1:49.41. Sophomore Bryan Collins took third in 1:49.74, and sophomore Brian Wilson took fourth in 1:50.45. Livingston led a one-two Texas finish in the platform diving event, which he claimed with 460.12 points. Sophomore Matt Cooper placed second with 453.67 points.
Texas resumes competition on Friday, Feb. 6 when it hosts Texas A&M in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
