Frittelli, Lopez sit in top-20 after opening rounds at Big 12 Men's Golf Championship

Results - first two rounds 
HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Texas freshman Dylan Frittelli sits at eight-over par while junior Lance Lopez is at 10-over par, as the duo ended the opening two rounds in the top-20 individually Monday at the 2009 Big 12 Championship at the par 70, 6,701-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club.
Finishing 36 of the tournament's 72 holes on a damp and breezy Monday, Texas shot a 23-over 303 in round one before following with a 25-over 305 in the afternoon round to finish the day in eighth place at 48-over par.
Oklahoma State leads the event at 21-over par, while Baylor's Bill Allcorn and Colorado's Derek Tolan are tied for the lead individually at one-under par.
Frittelli (Pretoria, South Africa) opened with a 38 on the front nine in round one before carding a smooth one-under 34 on the back nine with a pair of birdies and only one bogey, as he finished the round with a two-over 72. Frittelli shot a six-over 76 in round two to end the day in 13th place at eight-over par.
Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) shot a 76 in round one and shaved a couple of strokes off in round two, as he finished the round with a four-over 74. Lopez is tied for 17th place at 10-over par. Sophomore Bobby Hudson (Memphis, Tenn.) carded a seven-over 77 in both rounds Monday and is tied for 31st at 14-over par heading into Tuesday's third round.
Sophomore Donald Constable (Wayzata, Minn.) shot an eight-over 78 in each round Monday and is tied for 40th place at 16-over par. Freshman Alex Moon (Plano, Texas), playing in his second tournament of the season, followed an 85 in round one with an 80 in round two and sits in 60th heading into round three.
Texas tees off in Tuesday's third round at 8 a.m. Central.

On Monday's opening rounds: We're having a tough time getting it together, and it shows. Dylan Frittelli played pretty solid golf. I know this course, and I know it's an education out there. We've been fortunate to have won here in the past. All I can ask is that these guys give it their best. Hopefully we can get going tomorrow and pick up some momentum.
On Dylan Frittelli: Dylan is a great young player, and it's an education for him out here, too. It's probably one of the tougher courses he has played in his life. With a couple of good rounds Tuesday and Wednesday, he can come back and get in the hunt (for the individual title).
