TRINITY, Texas -- Texas junior Bobby Hudson and sophomore Dylan Frittelli each carded a 3-over 75 and secured top-10 individual finishes Sunday in the final round of the 2010 Big 12 Championships at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Longhorns shot a 7-over 295 in the final round and took third place overall with a 4-under 1,148 for the tournament. Oklahoma State took the team title at 19-under par, and Texas A&M placed second at 6-under par. Texas Tech placed fourth at even-par, and Kansas State rounded out the top-five at 11-over par. Texas Tech's Chris Ward led from start-to-finish and secured medalist honors at 9-under par.
Hudson shot a three-over 75 and finished in third place overall at 6-under par to nail down his third top-five finish of the spring and his fifth top-10 showing in his last seven events. It marked a career-best showing for the Memphis native at the Big 12 Championship.
Frittelli tied for seventh place at even-par for the tournament with his 3-over 75 on Sunday, as he landed his eighth top-10 finish in 11 events this season. Senior Lance Lopez fired a 1-over 73 behind four birdies and an eagle. Lopez tied for 17th place at 5-over par. Freshman Cody Gribble rebounded from a 79 on Saturday to post a 1-over 73 on Sunday with birdies at the second, ninth, 11th and 12th holes. Gribble tied for 19th place at 5-over par.

POST-ROUND COMMENTS
Texas head coach John Fields
On taking third place: I'm really happy with our guys. I'm not happy about finishing third, but Oklahoma State outplayed us, and then Texas A&M got out early and got us. We came to Whispering Pines and shot three rounds under-par and a 72-hole total under-par. We played with some of the best teams in the country and we finished third. So, it's a little bitter because we feel like we can play with both of those teams. But at the same time, I felt like our guys played really well. We'll think about what this tells us and go from there.
On Bobby Hudson's top-five finish: I thought Bobby played fantastic golf. He came out and tied the course record with a 64 in the first round. He had a chance to contend for the title, but it just didn't happen today. He didn't get the putts to fall or get the chips as close as we wanted them. But, he hit the ball well all week.
