No. 4 Men's Golf heads into final round of Gifford Collegiate in fifth place

SAN MARTIN, Calif, -- No. 4 Texas men's golf sits in fifth place after 36 holes at the Gifford Collegiate after shooting 362 (+7) in the play-six, pick-five format.
Freshman Scottie Scheffler was the low Texas golfer in the second round after firing an even-par 71. Scheffler (74-71=147, +3) heads into Wednesday's final round with a share of 29th.
Seniors Brax McCarthy and Kramer Hickok recorded 1-over-par 72s in the second round. McCarthy is in 38th while Hickok heads into the final round in 49th.
Sophomore Beau Hossler carded a 2-over-par 73 for a share of 18th.
Freshman Doug Ghim is closest to the top of the leaderboard after 36 holes for Texas with a tie for sixth after a 3-over-par 140.
USC (353-345=698) is atop the team leaderboard, while UCLA's Jake Knapp (66-70=136) is leading the medalist honors.
The Longhorns will tee off Wednesday's final round alongside Stanford and South Florida in a shotgun start at 11 a.m. CT.
