FORT WORTH, Texas — The No. 5 Texas Men's Golf team carded a final-round score of 2-over 282 on Tuesday to claim a four-way share of the team championship at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab at historic Colonial Country Club. Senior Christiaan Maas posted a 54-hole total of 1-under 209 (70-71-68) to advance to a five-man playoff for the individual title before sharing runner-up honors.
The Longhorns, who entered the final round in a tie for fifth and nine strokes off the lead, registered a 54-hole score of 10-over 850 (285-283-282) and were declared co-champions with No. 14 North Carolina (279-284-287), No. 6 Vanderbilt (285-283-282) and No. 8 Virginia (273-286-291). The prestigious 15-team field featured 13 squads in the top 25 of the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches poll (Sept. 19). This marked the first time that the Longhorns have won the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational since the tourney began in 2014.
In Tuesday's round, Texas counted scores from Maas (2-under 68), senior Tommy Morrison (1-over 71), sophomore Daniel Bennett (1-over 71) and junior Jack Gilbert (2-over 72) to post a team round of 2-over 282.
Maas was one of five players who completed the tournament with a 54-hole score of 1-under 209. He advanced to a playoff along with Albert Hansson of Georgia Tech (67-73-69), Ben James of Virginia (67-69-73), William Jennings of Alabama (69-69-71) and Willy Walsh of Pepperdine (70-70-69).
On the first playoff hole (hole 18), Hansson sank an eight-foot birdie putt to win the playoff and claim medalist honors. By virtue of his win, Hansson received an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Charles Schwab Challenge held at Colonial Country Club in spring 2026. Morrison tied for eighth in the individual standings with a three-round total of 1-over 211 (72-68-71).
The Longhorns will return to the course when they compete at the Williams Cup on Oct. 19-21 (Sunday-Tuesday) in Wilmington, N.C.
