· Texas has won eight of its last nine games and 13 of its last 15.
·The Longhorns lead the all-time series against Texas State 39-9 and have won 18 consecutive contests against the Bobcats. The last win for Texas State came April 27, 2005 (2-1, 10 innings). This marks just the second meeting in San Marcos (6-5 Texas win on March 3, 2009).
· Texas has faced the second-most difficult schedule in the nation so far, according to college baseball site BoydsWorld.com (see more - page 3).
· The Longhorns are 7-1 in games decided by two runs or less this season. They are also 8-3 when the opponent scores first, which includes all three wins over Hawai'i this past weekend.
· The Horns' pitching staff currently boasts a 1.99 ERA which leads the Big 12. West Virginia is second with a 2.17 ERA. In winning eight of the last nine games, Texas has a 0.97 ERA in the eight wins.
· The Texas bullpen has not allowed a run in the last 15 1/3 innings of work and has only allowed 14 earned runs in 57 innings this year (2.21 ERA).
· Texas turned three double plays on Sunday vs. Hawai'i and the Longhorns have turned 16 this season, which is tied for second in the Big 12.
· Senior center fielder Mark Payton leads the Big 12 in on-base percentage (.547), is tied for the lead in triples (4) and walks (15), and is second in hits (26), batting average (.433), and total bases (39).
· Payton has reached base safely in 56 consecutive games dating back to last season, which is the longest streak nationally. Michael Pritchard of Nebraska ranks second at 55.
· Several Longhorns heated up at the plate against Hawai'i. Collin Shaw finished the series 4-for-9 (.444), C.J Hinojosa was 5-for-13 (.385) with two walks, Kacy Clemens was 4-for-11 (.364) with three walks, Payton was 4-for-12 (.333) with four walks, and Jacob Felts was 5-for-16 (.313).
· With 1,887 career victories, head coach Augie Garrido needs just six wins to tie Gordon Gillespie for the most wins (1,893) by any college baseball coach at any level. He is already the winningest coach in Division I history.
