On today's game: It was a good game for eight innings. But the in the ninth inning they blew up on us, that's the worst inning we have had all year long, and it was a combination of all things. We had a chance to get some runs earlier, but didn't advance runners and didn't score them when we had the chance. So, they had some momentum, we didn't ever grab the momentum from the offensive side of it, and then it became a series of fumbles stumbles and falls ... we failed to execute, offensively and defensively.
On the pitching decisions in the ninth inning: The score was tied at the beginning of the ninth inning, that is why [Morgan] Cooper went back out, because John [Curtiss] is really about one inning and with a tie score you don't know that you are going to score in the bottom of the ninth. Cooper was feeling fine, but it ran away on us. The second pitcher, [Ty] Culbreth, [threw] eight balls in a row and a run scored, and that just continued to go on. Things in this game are contagious. When they get started they spread. Positive things are and negative things are, and this was a negative thing that spread.
On losing another Big 12 series: We only lost one today, one for one for this year. In 2002, we lost to Kansas two out of three, and we lost the next series two out of three and won the national championship.
On his message to the team after today's tough loss: I had one message. Whatever you fear, you will make happen.
On if the team got away from their style of play this weekend: Obviously we lost two games, and the way we finished makes it difficult for everyone to make it very positive, but, that is what this game does to you. I call it a cruel game a lot, you know that and now you know why. You know, it doesn't pick any favorites, it picks on everybody, and it picked on us today. We didn't execute as a team, so we lost. We have won 15 games and lost six now. We have won 15 together and we have lost six together and we continue to move on together.
