• Eighth-ranked Texas will play its first outdoor match of the season against Michigan State on Thursday afternoon at the Caswell Tennis Center (4 p.m. Central).
• SERIES VS. MICHIGAN STATE: The Longhorns are 3-0 in the all-time series with the Spartans. The last time the teams met was in 1996.
• TOP TIER SINGLES: UT's top three positions in singles are a combined 31-4 this season, including a 24-0 mark at singles positions one and two. Texas holds an overall 47-17 (.734) record in singles competition during dual match play.
• GREAT DANE - HESS-OLESEN: Denmark native Søren Hess-Olesen is separating himself as one of the best players to dawn a Texas uniform. His No. 2 national ranking this week is a career best, while maintaining a 14-match winning streak and a perfect 12-0 record during dual match play this season. The two-time All-American senior is 12-1 against ranked opponents this season and hasn't lost a set since Jan. 16.
• BIG 12 POWER: All six Big 12 men's tennis teams are ranked in the top-35, including three in the top-10 -- No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 Baylor, No. 8 Texas, No. 17 TCU, No. 32 Oklahoma State, and No. 34 Texas Tech.
• IN THE RANKINGS: The Longhorns are ranked No. 8 in the latest ITA Rankings. Texas has been ranked in the top-10 in 20 of the last 21 polls dating back to last season. Three student-athletes represent Texas in the singles rankings -- No. 2 Søren Hess-Olesen and No. 52 Lloyd Glasspool, and No. 60 Adrien Berkowicz. Glasspool and Hess-Olesen are ranked No. 35 as a doubles team.
• ALL-AMERICANS: The Longhorns return a pair of ITA All-Americans this season -- seniors Søren Hess-Olesen and Lloyd Glasspool. Hess-Olesen, a 2014 NCAA Singles Championship semifinalist, has earned All-American honors in singles twice (2013, 2014). Glasspool and Hess-Olesen earned doubles All-American honors last season as quarterfinalists in the NCAA Doubles Championship.
• COACH CENTER: Head Coach Michael Center is in his 15th season at Texas (295-103; .735) and his 24th overall as a head coach (453-171; .722).
• LAST TIME OUT: Texas has won four straight matches, the last two against ACC powers -- then-No. 8 North Carolina (Feb. 20) and then-No. 12 Wake Forest (March 1), both by scores of 4-3.
• NEXT UP: The Longhorns host No. 4 Illinois on Saturday, March 14 (1 p.m. Central) at the Caswell Tennis Center. The top-10 matchup will be televised nationally on Longhorn Network.
