Scheffler earns medalist honors for the second-straight tournament.
TULSA, Okla. – No. 2 Texas Men's Golf won its third-straight Big 12 Championship on Wednesday at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The Longhorns finished with a four-round total of 1130, 24 strokes ahead of runner-up Texas Tech to break the Big 12 record for margin of victory at a championship set by the 2008 Oklahoma State team that won the championship by 20 strokes.
Freshman Scottie Scheffler earned medalist honors in the tournament after shooting a fourth-round 73 to card even par for the tournament.
Scheffler is the first Longhorn to win a Big 12 Championship since Brandon Stone in 2013 and is the fifth player in Texas Men's Golf history.
This marks Scheffler's second-consecutive win after his victory at the Western Collegiate on April 12.
Sophomore Gavin Hall posted a career-best second-place finish after carding a 72 for the fourth round, ending two strokes behind Scheffler. This marks his second top-five finish of the season.
Senior Kramer Hickok shot the best round of all players on the third day with a 66 to tie for fifth, marking his second top-five finish of the season.
Sophomore Beau Hossler also finished in the top-10 for the Longhorns after carding an even 70 on the last day to tie for eighth. Hossler has finished every tournament this season inside the top 20.
Freshman Doug Ghim finished in a tie for 16th after shooting 9-over.
The win marks the Longhorns' third-consecutive and sixth overall Big 12 Championship title. In total, Texas Men's Golf has claimed 45 conference championships since 1927.
Men's Golf becomes the sixth University of Texas program to capture a Big 12 Championship during the 2014-15 season, joining Volleyball, Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving, Women's Indoor Track and Field and Men's Indoor Track and Field.
Since winning its conference championship, Texas will be an automatic qualifier for NCAA Regionals. The selection show will be live on the Golf Channel on Monday, May 4 at 9 a.m. CT.
The NCAA Regional Tournament will take place Thursday, May 14 through Saturday, May 16.
Post-Tournament Comments
Head Coach John Fields
On the win: I knew today was going to be a little bit different. To have a 20-shot lead going into the last day is different and that doesn't usually happen. And a 72-hole event is also different—we only have one other tournament in college golf that is 72 holes and that is the national championship. This is great preparation for us. I thought our guys did a great job.
On Southern Hills: Southern Hills is a great golf course. It's extremely difficult. It was prepared so that it was at championship caliber. The greens were running at 12.5-13, which made the premium on accuracy--from the tee and the fairway--exceptional. It really was a true championship and our guys did a great job. I am happy for each and every one of them and all of the people associated with our program.
On Scottie Scheffler: Scottie Scheffler played incredible golf the whole week; 72, 67, 68 and 72 today was just exceptional golf. As a freshman to come in here and win the Big 12 is outstanding. He's putting himself right back on the map in collegiate and amateur golf around the nation. He has done a great job for our team.

On today's win: It feels great. I got off to a bad start, but was able to turn it around and start hitting some better shots. I'm really glad that the team was able to get it done after having a nice lead going into today. We have a lot of momentum going into the next tournament.
