UT Tower to light in honor of Spieth tonight

The campus landmark will be lit in burnt orange to recognize former Longhorn Jordan Spieth’s U.S. Open win.
AUSTIN, Texas – The UT Tower will light this evening (June 22) in recognition of Jordan Spieth's win at the 2015 U.S. Open on Sunday.
Spieth captured the U.S. Open title and made history in the process, becoming the first Texas player to win back-to-back major tournaments, the first Texas player to win two majors in one season, the second Texas player to win two majors (Ben Crenshaw) and the second Texas player to win the U.S. Open (Tom Kite).
In addition, Spieth is the youngest player to win a U.S. open since Bobby Jones in 1923, the youngest to win two career majors since Gene Sarazen in 1922, the 16th player to win the Masters and U.S. Open in a career and the sixth player to win the Masters and U.S. Open in the same season.
Spieth played at Texas during the 2011-12 season and helped lead the Longhorns to the 2012 National Championship.
