The top three teams are separated by just four points, each receiving three first-place votes.
IRVING, Texas -- Texas Baseball has been selected to finish third in the 2016 Big 12 baseball preseason coaches poll, released today by the conference.
Just four points separate the top three teams in the poll, which places the Longhorns (53 points) behind TCU (57 points) and Oklahoma State (55 points). TCU, Oklahoma State and Texas each received three first-place votes in the poll.
The preseason favorite has gone on to claim the regular season title on five occasions since 1999 (last in 2010 by Texas). A different league team has won the regular season title in each of the past five years as Texas is the last to repeat as champion in back-to-back seasons (2010, 2011).
Texas Baseball will host its annual Fan Appreciation Day and Alumni Game on Saturday, February 6. The Longhorns open the regular season on Friday, February 19 at 6 p.m. with the first of three games against UNLV.
