The Texas Longhorns open Big 12 play at UFCU Disch Falk Field by hosting TCU in a three-game series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
"Conference is starting, and we have to get back to taking pride in the ability to play catch," head coach Augie Garrido says.
In addition to last year's rousing Big 12 tournament triumph, Texas has won seven Big 12 regular season titles. The start of conference play gives the Longhorns another opportunity to surge with a clean slate. Defensive struggles have compounded for the Longhorns in the first month of the season and resulted in 12 losses.
"We're making errors or bad decisions at the perfect time for the other team," junior center fielder Zane Gurwitz says. "We're there in every game … The good news is that it is something we can fix. It's within us."
TCU is ranked among the top 10 in every college baseball poll, and the Horned Frogs have won every weekend series this season.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and the series wraps with a 2:30 p.m. game on Saturday.
