The Longhorns have signed three top-25 signees to join the team in 2018.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Men's Golf has signed three players ranked in the top-25 of the Golfweek/Sagarin Class of 2018, Head Coach John Fields announced on Wednesday.
The Longhorns welcome Cole Hammer, Parker Coody, and Pierceson Coody to the team.
Hammer, a native of Houston, Texas, comes in at No. 10 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Class of 2018. He was a member of the 2017 United States Junior Presidents Cup Team and earned runner-up honors at the 2017 Azalea Amateur, receiving the 2017 Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Award.
He was a 2016 AJGA Rolex First Team All-American, earned runner-up honors at the 2016 Junior Players Championship, and participated in the 2015 U.S. Open.
"Cole Hammer is a great young player with tremendous experience," Fields said. "He brings talent, desire, belief, ability and outstanding core values. Cole will hit the ground running when he arrives on the 40 Acres. We are thrilled that Cole Hammer is a Longhorn."
Parker and Pierceson Coody will join the Longhorns from Plano, Texas as No. 14 and No. 25 Golfweek/Sagarin Class of 2018 rankings. The brothers' grandfather, Charles Coody was the 1971 Masters Champion and three-time PGA Tour winner, while their father, Kyle Coody played at Texas from 1983-87.
Parker won the 2017 UIL State High School 6A Championship, finished sixth at the 2017 Texas State Amateur, and participated in the 2017 U.S. Amateur. In 2016, he was the 2016 AJGA Abilene/Bob Estes Champion.
"Parker Coody is a great young man with a great young game," Fields said. "He has continued his climb on a national level becoming a feared competitor. Having a dad who played at Texas will motivate Parker on a continual basis to achieve Championships."
Pierceson won the 2016 AJGA Under Armour/Jordan Spieth tournament, was the 2016 UIL 6A Regional Champion, and the runner-up at the 2015 Byron Nelson Junior.
"Pierceson Coody is an outstanding young talent with tremendous experience," Fields said. "He has tremendous talent, strength and attitude. His legacy with his dad being a Longhorn Alumni will be one of Championships."
The Longhorns will look to fill spots left by seniors Scottie Scheffler and Doug Ghim.
"These three young men bring a wealth of talent, experience, attitude and desire," Fields said. "They will have an immediate impact on our team and help continue our National Championship aspirations. I am truly excited to welcome Cole, Pierceson and Parker, and look forward to their Bright Burnt Orange Future."
