The Longhorns completed the three-game sweep over Big 12 foe Kansas State on Sunday.
AUSTIN, Texas—With a 6-5 win over Kansas State on Sunday, Texas Baseball (17-10, 3-3 Big 12) completed the Big 12 Conference series sweep over the Wildcats (15-9, 0-3) at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The win saw Longhorns left fielder Tate Shaw rob a would-be home run and featured a game-winning solo shot off the bat of Kody Clemens.
After three scoreless innings of play, the Longhorns got on the board in the fourth, but not before Shaw robbed a potential two-run homer in the top half of the inning.

In the home half, catcher Michael McCann worked a walk to open the inning before Patrick Mathis was hit with a pitch. Ryan Reynolds followed with an RBI ground ball and reached base when the KSU second baseman's throw went wild. Freshman David Hamilton then hit his team-leading fifth sacrifice fly and the Longhorns went up 2-0.
In the next half inning, however, Kansas State rallied. The Wildcats loaded the bases off Blair Henley but the freshman got a 5-4-3 double play to get two outs in the inning. With Texas' lead cut to 2-1, Chase Shugart entered in relief. Shugart (1-1) proceeded to walk a batter and allowed a pair of singles and the Longhorns fell behind 4-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Texas clawed its way back. Kody Clemens doubled to open the frame before Ryan Reynolds and David Hamilton each drew a walk to load the bases for Travis Jones. Jones took the 2-0 offering from Mitch Zubradt down the left field line, clearing the bases and putting the Longhorns on top 5-4.
K-State tied it back up in the seventh inning before the Longhorns went ahead for good. Kody Clemens ripped a two-out solo homer to left-center to put the Longhorns on top 6-5.
Beau Ridgeway (4) entered in the eighth inning and made quick work of the Wildcats. He pitched two innings for this fourth save of the year.
The Longhorns next head to Corpus Christi, Texas, to take on TAMU-CC at Whataburger Field on Tuesday night.
