AUSTIN, Texas—A combined shutout from the Longhorns pitching staff sent Texas Baseball to a 2-0 win over Texas State on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns (25-15) got five scoreless from starter Blair Henley and used a 3-for-4 night from freshman Ryan Reynolds to overtake the Bobcats (22-16).

Texas got on the board in the third when Kody Clemens ripped a two-out single up the middle to plate senior Zane Gurwitz and put the Longhorns out in front, 1-0.

Three innings later, Reynolds—who finished the night with two doubles (one from each side of the plate) and an RBI—unloaded on a 2-1 offering to drive in Kacy Clemens from first base and push the Longhorns lead to 2-0.

That would be all the Longhorns pitching staff would need as it combined for nine shutout frames over the Bobcats, starting with Henley's five solid innings. The freshman allowed four hits and two walks in five scoreless that included escaping a bases-loaded, no out jam in the second inning.

That would be the first of two bases-loaded, no out situations for the Longhorns on the day, as sophomore Chase Shugart escaped one of his own in the seventh inning to keep the Bobcats off the board.

Shugart, Connor Mayes and Tyler Schimpf each tossed one inning of shutout baseball before sophomore Beau Ridgeway entered in the ninth to pick up his eighth save of the season in his team-high 23rd appearance.

This marked the Longhorns' 25th win of the season, matching their season total from 2016.

The Longhorns return to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday night at 7 p.m. for the first of three games in a non-conference series against New Orleans.
