OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.—Starting pitcher Nolan Kingham tossed a complete game and Texas Baseball defeated Kansas, 5-4, on Thursday night in game two of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship. With the win, the Longhorns move to 2-0 in the tournament and will face the winner of Kansas/TCU on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The Longhorns got out to an early lead for Kingham, putting up a four-spot in the second inning off KU righty Jackson Goddard (5-4). Zane Gurwitz singled up the middle to open the inning and Bret Boswell followed with a single of his own to put two on with no outs. Ryan Reynolds' sac bunt forced an error to load the bases and Michael McCann took a 2-0 pitch back up the middle to plate two and put Texas up 2-0.

Two batters later, Patrick Mathis singled home Reynolds to make it 3-0 and Kody Clemens followed with a sacrifice fly to put Texas up 4-0 after two innings.

Kingham cruised through the first three innings, facing the minimum, until the Jayhawks plated a pair of runs to make it 4-2. The sophomore buckled down, however, and shut out KU through the next four frames.

In the sixth, the Texas offense extended its lead. Reynolds and McCann singled to open the inning and moved to second and third on a David Hamilton sacrifice fly. With one away, Jake McKenzie pinch-hit and drove a 3-1 pitch off the left-centerfield wall to make it 5-2 in favor of the Longhorns.

Kingham (9-4) went back out for the ninth looking to go the distance for the second time this season. After striking out the first batter he faced, he allowed an infield single before fanning another Jayhawk. With two away, Kansas got a two-run homer to pull itself to within one, but Kingham settled in to get the final out and seal the win.

With two wins to open the conference tournament, the Longhorns will have the day off on Friday and will await the winner of Kansas/TCU for Saturday's matchup.
