Baseball drops Saturday’s game one, 9-2, to TCU

The Longhorns and Horned Frogs will face off in the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.—Texas Baseball fell, 9-2, to TCU on Saturday afternoon at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship. The two teams will meet again this evening at 6 p.m. for the chance to go to the championship game on Sunday.
Although the Longhorns (36-21) got an early lead in the first inning thanks to a leadoff homer from Patrick Mathis, TCU (42-15) answered back with a four unearned runs in the bottom of the frame to take control of the game.
Kyle Johnston (3-2) lasted three innings on the hill for Texas before exiting in favor of Tyler Schimpf. Johnston allowed six runs (two earned) in six hits and one walk while fanning two.
Schimpf allowed one and right-hander Beau O'Hara allowed two behind Johnston. Despite Texas plating another in the ninth thanks to a Tate Shaw double and an Austin Todd RBI single, the Longhorns could not mount a comeback off the Horned Frogs pitching.
The two teams meet again at 6 p.m. in an elimination contest.
