AUSTIN, Texas—No. 21 Texas Baseball dropped the series finale to New Orleans, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns (28-15) took the series win over the Privateers (18-24) but could not mount the comeback they needed.
New Orleans put up a three-spot in the third inning off Blair Henley (5-5) when, with two outs and runners on the corners, Orynn Veillon hit a fly ball to left-center that Tate Shaw could not handle to put the Privateers out in front, 2-0. They would tack on one more unearned run in the frame and Texas trailed, 3-0, after the third.
In the sixth, New Orleans picked up another unearned run thanks to another miscue in the outfield.
The Longhorns got their sole run of the ballgame in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan Reynolds hit a solo homer to left. Reynolds finished the game with two hits, the other a double, and Michael McCann had the other multi-hit game for the Longhorns.
Texas returns to action on Tuesday night with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Houston at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
