AUSTIN, Texas—After a weekend in which No. 12 Texas Baseball swept TCU to earn the Big 12 Conference crown, a trio of Longhorns also swept the conference weekly honors. Kody Clemens was named Big 12 Player of the Week while Nolan Kingham earned Pitcher of the Week and Masen Hibbeler earned Newcomer of the Week honors.
Clemens hit .333/.412/1.000 for the week with six RBI. The junior blasted two two-run home runs on Friday night including the walk-off homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. On Sunday, he hit another two-run blast in the first inning to send Texas to the win. He also added a double and four runs scored. His homer on Saturday gave him a Big 12-leading 19 on the season, moving him into a tie for third-place for most homers in a single season in Texas history.
On Thursday night, Kingham tossed his second complete game of the season to open the series against TCU on Thursday night. The junior went nine, allowing just two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six on the night to give Texas the series-opening win over the Horned Frogs.
In the Longhorns' 4-0 week, junior left fielder Hibbeler hit .385/.438/.692 including a double and his fourth homer of the season. He also went 1-for-1 in stolen bases and drove in three on the week. His home run Thursday stood as the game-winner and his double on Saturday set Texas up for its big five-run fourth inning to help complete the series sweep over TCU and claim the Big 12 title.
The awards are the second for each of Clemens, Kingham, and Hibbeler this season.
The Longhorns now head to Oklahoma City for the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship where they hold the No. 1 seed.
