The Longhorns rushed for three touchdowns but came up short.
DALLAS, Texas – The University of Texas (4-2, 2-1) battled back from a pair of 10-point deficits but came up just against No. 6/6 Oklahoma, 34-27, in the AT&T Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Key Statistics
- Oklahoma grabbed an early 10-0 lead but the Longhorns defense kept Texas in the game with a pair of turnover forced in the first half. Anthony Cook forced a Jalen Hurts fumble that was recovered by D'Shawn Jamison in the first quarter and Brandon Jones intercepted a pass in the second quarter.
- Cameron Dicker kicked a 49-yard field goal to end the first half with Texas trailing 10-3.
- Texas tied the game midway through the third quarter, after Roschon Johnson covered 70 yards in three plays, including a 57 yard run that was followed by a four-yard TD score.
- The Sooners scored the next 10 points to go up 20-10, but Sam Ehlinger trimmed the lead with a two yard touchdown run on the final play of the third quarter.
- Oklahoma had an answer to Ehlinger's rush, but a second field goal by Dicker trimmed the lead back to one score.
- The Sooners followed with another touchdown to take a 34-20 lead with 4:19 left in the game. Ehlinger scored a final rushing touchdown with 1:49 left in the game but the Longhorns were unable to recover the onside kick.
