WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
Head Coach Edrick Floreal: "Championships season is upon us and the hay is in the barn. The time has come to put our preparation to the test. We are in a good place as a team – that's not saying things are perfect physically – but mentally and emotionally we are a unit and ready to compete as one."
ZAMZOW NAMED TO BOWERMAN WOMEN'S MID-OCTOBER WATCH LIST
Longhorn senior heptathlete Ashtin Zamzow is among 10 national track and field standouts recently named to The Bowerman Women's Mid-Outdoor Watch List. The only Big 12 student-athlete on the list, she earned Big 12 Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week after breaking her own Texas school record in the heptathlon at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays earlier this year. At that meet, she turned in personal-best performances in six of the seven events and broke her own school record by more than 300 points with 6,148 points over the two-day event. She also became the first-ever Longhorn to win the Texas Relays heptathlon title. Zamzow's point total was the fourth-highest in meet history as well as the seventh-best score ever by a U.S. collegian, 12th-best in NCAA history and No. 25 on the United States all-time list.
STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS
Twenty-nine members of The University of Texas Track & Field team earned spots on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 team, the Big 12 Conference announced on Tuesday.
