Former Longhorn shot a 64 in the final round to earn his first PGA TOUR victory.
SILVIS, Illinois – University of Texas Men's Golf alum Dylan Frittelli (2009-12) shot a 64 in the final round at TPC Deere Run on Sunday afternoon to claim his first PGA TOUR win as he claimed the 2019 John Deere Classic title, finishing the tournament at 21-under-par.
"It was just basically the theory of have fun through the whole week, and I managed to stick to that on Sunday. Last week I didn't quite stick to it, and this week I did," Frittelli said of his mindset all weekend.
This was the fourth time since 2013 that there has been a first-time winner at the John Deere, the last three winners being Michael Kim, Bryson DeChambeau and fellow Longhorn, Jordan Spieth, who was on the 2012 NCAA Championship winning team with Frittelli.
With the win at the John Deere Classic, Frittelli earned an invitation to the British Open (July 18-21).
