No. 2 Women’s Tennis sweeps No. 18 UCF, 4-0

The Longhorns improve to 8-1 and earn their fourth win against a ranked opponent this season.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 University of Texas women's tennis team registered a 4-0 victory against No. 18 UCF (7-3) on Saturday afternoon indoors at the Edgar O. and Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center. With the victory, the Longhorns improved to 8-1 and claimed their fourth win against a ranked opponent this season.
Texas grabbed a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point for the eighth time in its first nine dual matches this spring. The freshman duo of Kylie Collins and Lulu Sun earned its third-consecutive victory against a Top-10 ranked opponent, posting an impressive 6-2 win on court 1 against the No. 6-ranked duo of Marie Mattel and Rebeka Stolmar. Collins and Sun improved to 6-1 this spring on court 1 in dual-match doubles play.
The freshman tandem of Peyton Stearns and Charlotte Chavatipon clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory on court 3 against Nadja Bay Christians and Evgeniya Levashova. Stearns and Chavatipon improved to 4-1 on court 3 this spring in dual-match doubles action.
Texas closed out the dual-match sweep by earning three straight-set wins in singles play. No. 5 senior Anna Turati improved to 5-2 in dual-match singles this spring with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory against No. 42 Stolmar on court 2.
No. 125 Chavatipon moved to 11-1 overall on the year and 8-1 in dual-match singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court 4 over Christians. Freshman Malaika Rapolu improved to 10-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in dual-match singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court 6 against Jaleesa Leslie to finish out the match.
The Longhorns were within two games of finishing the remaining singles match on court 1 (Stearns), court 3 (Sun) and court 5 (Collins) when Rapolu closed out her victory.
UT returns to action when it hosts UTSA on Thursday, March 4. First serve is set for 3 p.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center
