Track and Field competes at UTSA Invitational

A small squad of Longhorns competed in San Antonio on Saturday.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas Track and Field program had a small group of men's and women's competitors take part in the UTSA Invitational on Saturday. It was the Longhorns' second outdoor competition of the spring and first since the end of the NCAA Indoor Championships a week ago.
Alyssa Duhart highlighted the day for Texas by winning the 800-meter run in a time of 2:15.74. It was a personal-best time for in her collegiate outdoor debut at UT, after the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. Behind Duhart, teammates Jennelle Jaeger-Darakjy finished third (2:17.78) and MiKenna Robinson took fifth (2:19.72).
In the women's 1,500-meter race, Halena Rahmaan earned silver with a second-place finish. She clocked 4:38.40 in her second competition of the season. Earlier this month at the Longhorn Invitational, she finished sixth with a personal-best time of 4:34.78.
Texas also got strong performances in the field, specifically in jumps competition.
Kevin McMillan placed second in the men's triple jump with a best mark of 13.94m/45-9 (-1.8). In the high jump, Trinity Tomlinson (1.61m/5-3.25) placed third in the women's competition while Riley Foreman (2.01m/6-7) placed fifth in the men's. Grahm Gonzalez (4.65m/15-3) and Madison Gawthorp (3.50m/11-5.75) each placed fourth in men's and women's pole vault action, respectively.
The UTSA Invitational was the final warm-up for the Longhorns ahead of the 93rd running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays next week at Mike A. Myers Stadium. One of the premier track and field events across the country, this year's Relays will begin on Thursday, March 25, and run through Saturday, March 27, in Austin.
