No. 7 Men’s Golf tied for 54-hole lead at Big 12 Championship

The Longhorns are tied with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State entering Wednesday’s final round.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The No. 7 Texas men's golf team posted the best by any team in the field on Tuesday at the Big 12 Championship, shooting an 8-under 272 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Longhorns' score pulled them into a three-way tie with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State at 16-over through 54 holes.
Cole Hammer was the anchor for the Longhorns in Tuesday's third round, firing a tournament-best 5-under 65 that featured six birdies and only one bogey. Hammer's round pulled him level with Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg and Oklahoma State's Bo Jin for the clubhouse lead at 1-under par. The All-American Longhorn carded his first birdie of the day on the third hole, followed by four-straight birdies on the seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th holes. He also scored in red figures on the 14th before posting his lone bogey of the day at the 16th.
Behind Hammer, teammates Pierceson Coody and Mason Nome sit in fifth and tied for sixth place, respectively. Coody sits at 4-over through 54 holes after carding an even-par 70 on Tuesday, while Nome is one shot behind him at 5-over thanks to a 2-under 68 in his third round. Coody made four birdies in his round, but dropped shots with a pair of bogeys and one double bogey. Nome, meanwhile, carded a birdie at the sixth followed by an eagle at the seventh to get under par. He dropped a shot at the eighth with a bogey, but parred out the rest of his round to stay in red numbers.
Rounding out the day for Texas was Travis Vick and Parker Coody, who currently sit tied for 20th and 23rd, respectively. Vick is 11-over for the week, while Coody is 12-over.
The final round of the Big 12 Championship is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Prairie Dunes. Live results will be available throughout the day on Golfstat.com.
