No. 19 Baseball shuts out No. 9 Oklahoma State

The Longhorns opened the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship with a shutout win over the Cowboys.
ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 19 Texas Baseball opened the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship with a 4-0 shutout win over No. 9 Oklahoma State on Wednesday at Globe Life Field. The Longhorns (40-17) advance to face either TCU or Baylor on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The shutout by the Longhorns was their eighth of the season, tied for the third-most in the country.
Pete Hansen was outstanding, pitching 7 2/3 scoreless innings and allowing just three hits and two walks. He struck out 12 batters to match his season high for the third time. With the victory, he picked up his 10th win of the season.
Hansen started the game with 4 2/3 hitless innings before allowing a two-out single in the fifth. The only other hits he would allow were a two-out single in the sixth and another in the eighth.
Tristan Stevens came out of the bullpen in the eighth with a runner on and two outs and recorded the final four outs for his second save of the season.
Trey Faltine went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored, while Skyler Messinger was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Austin Todd and Silas Ardoin both hit a home run in the game.
Texas scored the first run of the game in the top of the sixth after Faltine started the inning with a single. Douglas Hodo III followed with a bunt single that was thrown away, allowing Faltine to score.
The Longhorns extended the lead out to 3-0 with three hits in the seventh inning. Todd started the inning with a solo home run to left field, his sixth of the season. Messinger followed with a single and Ardoin walked before Faltine lined a single up the middle to drive in the run.
Ardoin put the final run on the board with his 11th homer of the season, a solo shot in the ninth inning.
