No. 9 Baseball season ends in the College World Series

The Longhorns finished the season with a 47-22 and advanced to the CWS for the second-straight season.

OMAHA, Neb. – No. 9 Texas Baseball fell to Texas A&M, 10-1, in an elimination game at the College World Series on Sunday at Charles Schwab Field. The Longhorns end the season with a 47-22 record and in the College World Series for the second-consecutive season.

Texas took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second but the Aggies scored runs in four-consecutive innings to build a lead and never look back.

Austin Todd went 3-for-5 with one RBI, playing in his 208^th and final game for the Longhorns. Douglas Hodo III was 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.

The Longhorns got on the board in the top of the first after Hodo started the game with a walk and Eric Kennedy singled to put two runners on. With two outs, Todd delivered an RBI single to give Texas a 1-0 lead.

Texas got another two-out run in the second to extend the lead to 2-0. Dylan Campbell reached on an error, stole second base and scored on an RBI double by Hodo.

The Aggies jumped in front with a four-run bottom of the second, chasing starting pitcher Lucas Gordon out of the game and taking a 4-2 lead. Texas A&M added an unearned run in the third to extend the lead to 5-2.

Texas got two runners on base to start the fourth inning but were unable to scratch out a run. In the bottom of the fourth, the Aggies tacked on another run with a two-out hit to go up 6-2.

Two more Aggie runs came across in the fifth inning to make the score 8-2 but reliever Luke Harrison was able to limit the damage with a groundball double play.

Texas advanced to the College World series for the second-consecutive season and the third time in the last four complete seasons (there was no CWS in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
