No. 9 Men's Cross Country wins NCAA South Central Regional, Women finish fifth

Nine Longhorns earn All-NCAA South Central Regional honors.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 9 Men's Cross Country team won its fifth NCAA South Central Regional title on Friday at Agri Park scoring 33 points. The women finished tied for fifth scoring 143 points.
The men were led by senior Devin Hart's third-place finish in the 10K, crossing the finish line in 28:44.6. Hart led a trio of Longhorns to top-10 finishes with Rodger Rivera finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 28:59.5 and Isaac Alonzo finishing fifth in 29:18.7, another personal best.
Haftu Knight finished ninth in 29:39.0, while sophomore Nathanael Berhane set his own personal best 10K time in 29:50.8. Junior Abraham Avila-Martinez was the final top-25 finisher for the Longhorns in 17th when he finished in 30:12.4. After finishing among the top-25, the six Longhorns were named to the All-Region Team.
By winning the regional meet, Texas secured its spot at the NCAA Championships for the 15th-straight season, not including the COVID-19 season.
On the women's side, Beth Ramos automatically captured her spot as an individual at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, finishing seventh overall in the 6K with her time of 20:29.1. As a top-four finisher outside Arkansas and Texas A&M, Ramos will compete on her own for the third time with Texas.
Texas finished tied for fifth with 143 points behind Arkansas (36), A&M (90), LSU (129) and Tulane (139).
Elizabeth Pickett (21:03.8) and Eva Jess (21:11.0) joined Ramos with All-Region honors after finishing in the top-25 and set personal best times. Maddie Hatfield later finished with an 8-second personal best at 21:59.8 and Haley Harber set a 4-second PB (22:04.6). Allyson Little and Mackenize Browne were the final competitors for Texas to finish.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships are scheduled for Nov. 18 in Charlottesville, Va.
