Devin Hart and Rodger Rivera named 22nd and 23rd Cross Country All-Americans in program history.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Texas Men's Cross Country team finished seventh at the NCAA Cross Country Championships for its best finish since 2006.
Led by All-Americans Devin Hart and Rodger Rivera, the Longhorns scored 262 points to finish seventh. It's the first time in 10 seasons the Longhorns have cracked the top-10 after finishing ninth in 2012 and not competing in 2020. Saturday's finish is the eighth time Texas has finished in the top-10 and fourth time it has placed seventh (2023, 2006, 2005 and 1991).
Hart, who has been the top Texas finisher in every race this season, closed out his first season with Texas as an All-American finishing 11th with his time of 29:14.1 in the 10K. It's his best finish at the NCAA Championships.
Rivera was also named an All-American after finishing in the top-40, finishing 23rd with his time of 29:33.0. Hart and Rivera mark just the 21st and 22nd Cross Country All-American in Texas history. In the last four appearances at the NCAA Championships, Texas has had at least one All-American – Sam Worley (2019), Yaseen Abdalla (2021), Haftu Knight (2022) and Hart and Rivera (2023).
Knight was the third Longhorn to finish the 10K, finishing 79th with his time of 30:22.3. Junior Isaac Alonzo finished within the top-100 after crossing the finish line in 30:29.8 minutes in 93rd.
Sophomore Emmanuel Sgouros was next for Texas finishing with a personal-best time of 30:35.7 in just his second career 10K. Abraham Avila-Martinez (31:50.4) and Hudson Heikkinen (31:55.3) were the final Longhorns to finish with Heikkinen posting a new personal best to end the cross country season.
On the women's side, Beth Ramos competed in her fourth and final NCAA Cross Country Championships. She finished in 20:45.6 in the 6K in 112th-place for her best finish at the Championship meet.
