The Longhorns took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth but came up just short.
STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 21 Texas Baseball dropped the series finale to No. 17 Oklahoma State, 4-3, on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning at O'Brate Stadium.
The Longhorns (20-9, 4-2) held a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the ninth but were unable to close out the Cowboys and dropped the series on a walk-off.
Texas scored three runs in the first inning on a three-run homer by Garret Guillemette but were held scoreless the rest of the game. Guillemette went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Porter Brown finished 2-for-4.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. started and pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts and just two hits allowed.
Guillemette launched the Longhorns into an early 3-0 lead with a three-run home run to left-center field. Eric Kennedy singled and Dylan Campbell walked in front of the homer.
The Longhorns got into some trouble in the third inning, with the Cowboys loading the bases with two outs but Johnson was able to get out of the jam unscathed.
After a leadoff walk in the fourth, David Shaw came out of the bullpen to get Texas out of the jam. Shaw went on to pitch 1.1 scoreless innings of relief with one strikeout.
Campbell helped keep the Cowboys off the board in the fifth inning, throwing out a runner at the plate to end the inning.
Oklahoma State got its first runs across in the bottom of the sixth, hitting a two-run homer off of Charlie Hurley to trim the Texas lead to 3-2.
Texas loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the ninth but couldn't come up with an insurance run. That would ultimately come back to haunt the Longhorns as they gave up the game-winning runs in the bottom half of the inning off of Zane Morehouse.
Texas returns home to UFCU Disch-Falk Field next week to host Air Force on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before welcoming Kansas State for a three-game series Thursday through Saturday.
