No. 9/1 Track & Field wins 11 events at Texas Invitational

Alfred, Nubbe and Smallwood climb Texas' all-time list on Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 9/1 Texas track and field program won 11 events on the final day of the Texas Invitational to close out the team's regular-season competition.
The freshman thrower Jeremiah Nubbe began the day for the Longhorns winning the men's hammer with the second-best throw in his career at 68.63m (225-2). The throw is the fourth-best throw in Texas history. He also threw for 68.37m/208-8 and 67.42m/221-2 in his throwing series that rank in the top 25 of the Texas record book.
He also added a third-place finish in the discus with his final throw reaching 56.17m (184-3).\
Sophomore Darja Sopova kept the winning going for Texas after her wind-aided jump of 12.98m (42-7) gave the Longhorns the second event win of the day. Solomon Washington finished sixth on the men's side with his jump of 14.79m (48-6.25).
Freshman Kendrick Smallwood set a personal-best time in the 110-meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 13.70. Junior Leo Neugebauer finished fifth at 14.35, freshman Kody Blackwood in sixth at 14.38 and fellow freshman Chris Brinkley in seventh with his time of 14.40.
Senior Kennedy Simon finished with the fastest 400-meter collegiate time running a season best time of 50.84. Freshman Dejanea Oakley ran her first collegiate 400 in 52.61 to finish sixth and Rachel Helbling finished seventh in 53.36.
Senior Brian Herron won the men's 400-meter at 46.14, while senior Jonathan Jones finished third with his time of 46.50. Junior Caleb Hulbin rounded out the top-10 finishers for the Longhorns with his seventh-place finish at 46.82.
Back in the field events, senior Marilyn Nwora won the women's shot put with a heave of 17.07m (56-0) on her fifth throw. Sophomore Chrystal Herpin was fourth with her throw of 15.54m (51-0).
Sophomore Sam Hurley won his second high jump event at Mike A. Myers Stadium this season after clearing 2.15m (7-0.5). It's the third time this season he has jump seven feet. Freshman Dylan Lineberger cleared a personal best 2.10m (6-10.75) to finish third overall.
Julien Alfred and the Longhorns ran their first wind-legal 100-meter dash this season with Alfred winning with her NCAA-leading time of 10.95. The time is tied for the fourth-fastest time in Texas history. Kevona Davis was second with her time of 11.14, Ezinne Abba finished fourth at 11.15, Lanae-Tava Thomas finished fifth at 11.16 and Rhasidat Adeleke was sixth at 11.32.
The women's 800-meter saw Brooke Jaworski win it with her time of 2:05.81, while Amity Ebarb was the runner-up at 2:09.32.
The distance carnival began with Allyson Little winning the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:47.58 and Kelsie Vicknair finished just behind in second at 10:54.19.
Yusuf Bizimana led the Longhorns in winning the 1500-meter run with his time of 3:47.77 and Abraham Avila-Martinez finished second at 3:49.75. Nathanael Berhane (3:53.26) and Edwin Gomez (3:54.41) finished fourth and fifth.
Eva Jess was the final Longhorn to champion an event as she claimed the women's 5000-meter run with her time of 17:18.36.
The Longhorns will travel to Norman, Okla., for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships from May 12 – 14.
