Baseball takes down UTA, 10-5

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball pounded out 12 hits and rolled to a 10-5 win over UT Arlington on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (33-17, 12-9) picked up their third-consecutive win to open up their seven-game homestand to close out the season.
Charlie Hurley started and pitched five solid innings, allowing just two runs on five hits. He struck out two batters and did not issue a walk to pick up his fourth win of the season.
David Shaw pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Heston Tole followed up with a scoreless eighth inning out of the bullpen.
Porter Brown went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a homer, two RBI and three runs scored. Peyton Powell, Garret Guillemette and Eric Kennedy all had two hits apiece.
Powell launched a solo home run in the first inning to give the Longhorns an early 1-0 lead.
Dylan Campbell added to the lead in the second with a two-run single up the middle to make the score 3-0 and extend his Longhorn record hitting streak to 27 games.
The Longhorns added another run in the third inning after a hustling double by Brown and an infield single by Kennedy put runners on the corners. Rylan Galvan drove in the run with an RBI groundout to give Texas a 4-0 lead.
UT Arlington scored a couple of runs on four hits in the fifth to trim the Texas lead to 4-2.
Texas got the runs right back and more in the bottom of the fifth. Brown and Kennedy both got on base to start the inning again and Jack O'Dowd delivered a two-run single. After a two-out walk to Jalin Flores, Jared Thomas launched a two-run homer out to right-center field to make the lead 8-2.
Brown launched an opposite field two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 10-2.
The Mavericks scored three runs in the ninth on a slew of free passes but the Longhorns were able to close out the win.
Texas is set to host San Jose State for a non-conference weekend series at UFCU Disch-Falk Field starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
