Texas set to make 18th all-time appearance in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship
AUSTIN, Texas – Less than a week after winning the SEC Tournament, The University of Texas women's soccer program will look to add more hardware to its trophy case when the Longhorns kickoff its run in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship with a first-round matchup against Boston University at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
TELEVISION: Katie Goodman (play by play) and Ray Villarreal (analyst) will serve as the television talent for Friday night's broadcast on ESPN+, which will be available stream on the ESPN app.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Friday night's meeting on the pitch at Mike A. Myers Stadium will make the first-ever soccer match between the Texas and Boston University women's programs.
- Even during her time as the head coach at Tennessee (2000-11), Texas head coach Angela Kelly never faced the Boston Terroirs on the soccer pitch.
KICKING OFF:
- As a result of being on the lending hand side of Texas' match-winning goal against South Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 10, senior midfielder Lexi Missimo now appears on the program's single-season assist list on four separate occasions, the most by any student-athlete in program history after breaking a tie with Kelly Wilson.
- Missimo now holds the first (20 - 2023), second (15 - 2022), third (14 - 2021) and 10th (11- 2024) spots on the list.
- Kelly is tied for third (14 – 2004), eighth (12 – 2001) and 10th (11 – 2002).
- With her next win between the pipes, two-year Longhorn goalkeeper Mia Justus will tie the program's single-season wins record (17) set by herself during her first season on the Forty Acres in 2023.
- A win over Boston University on Friday would give the Texas program back-to-back 17-win seasons, which would tie the 2006 (18) and 2007 (16) seasons for the best win total (34) over a two-season span in program history.
- Trinity Byars, Ashlyn Miller and Lexi Missimo all each Friday night's match one goal shy of tying Cyera Hintzen (2017-19) and Kelsey Carpenter (2004-07) for the most goals by a Longhorn women's soccer student-athlete during the NCAA Tournament.
- Along with Byars, Miller and Missimo, only Jilly Shimkin has also scored a goal during the NCAA Tournament after finding the back of the net against Texas A&M on Nov. 11, 2022.
- Texas will take a 6-4-0 all-time record in NCAA Tournament matches played in Austin, Texas into Friday night's matchup against Boston University.
- Under head coach Angela Kelly, Texas is 4-1-0 all time in NCAA Tournament matches on the Forty Acres.
- The Longhorns have not lost a postseason match in Austin since Nov. 9, 2018, when Virginia Tech knocked off then-No. 17 Texas 1-0.
- Under head coach Angela Kelly, Texas is 4-1-0 all time in NCAA Tournament matches on the Forty Acres.
- When Friday night's match is kicked off, Texas will be looking to make a run towards its second consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearance in as many years, making just the second time in program history the Longhorns have achieve the feat after reaching the third round in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
- Texas has an all-time record of 8-9-0 in first round matches and will be looking for its third consecutive first round victory, tying the longest such streak in program history set from 2006 to 2008.
