No. 18 Men’s Golf concludes day one at Valspar Collegiate Invitational

Stark cards a 36-hole total of even-par 142 on Monday and is tied for 19th in the individual standings.
PALM CITY, Fla. — The No. 18 Texas Men's Golf team fired a two-round total of 13-over-par 581 (288-293) on Monday to rest in 14th place after the opening day of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian National Golf Club. Graduate Brian Stark posted a 36-hole score of even-par 142 (69-73) and is tied for 19th in the individual standings.
No. 11 Florida State holds the team lead after the first 36 holes at 10-under-par 558 (280-278). Wake Forest is second at 4-under-par 564 (282-282), while No. 3 Vanderbilt (279-286) and No. 4 Arizona State (280-285) are tied for third at 3-under-par 565. The 16-team field features five squads in the Top 10 and ten squads in the Top 25 of the national rankings provided by Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
Luke Clanton of Florida State holds the 36-hole individual lead at 9-under-par 133 (65-68). North Carolina's Austin Greaser is second at 7-under-par 135 (66-69), while four players are tied for third at 5-under-par 137.
The Valspar Collegiate Invitational concludes with a final round on Tuesday, March 26. Texas will be paired with No. 25 Duke, Houston and Lamar for Tuesday's final round and will tee off in a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET (7:30 a.m. CT).
The Lineup
- Graduate Brian Stark carded a 36-hole total of even-par 142 (69-73) on Monday and is tied for 19th in the individual standings. In his morning round, Stark tallied three birdies and an eagle on the par-five 13th hole. During his afternoon round, he was at 4-over through 17 holes before making eagle on his closing par-four 6th hole.
- Senior Nathan Petronzio posted a two-round score of 2-over-par 144 (73-71) and is tied for 27th place. In his afternoon round, he was at 1-over through 16 holes before making birdie on the par-five 5th hole to finish at even-par.
- Sophomore Christiaan Maas fired a 36-hole total of 5-over-par 147 (73-74) and is tied for 46th. Maas tallied four birdies in his morning round before recording five birdies during his afternoon round.
- Sophomore Tommy Morrison is tied for 69th place after posting a two-round score of 8-over-par 150 (76-74), and sophomore Jacob Sosa is in 81st at 12-over-par 154 (74-80).
