No. 24 Baseball falls to No. 17 Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 24 Texas Baseball dropped the second game of the series to No. 17 Texas Tech, 7-2, on Saturday at Rip Griffin Park.
The Longhorns (8-6, 1-1) will look to bounce back in the rubber match of the series on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Max Belyeu and Porter Brown provided the only offense for Texas, both hitting solo home runs early in the game.
Max Grubbs was outstanding in relief for the Longhorns, getting them out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth, before going 4 2/3 innings and allowing just two unearned runs on five hits.
Belyeu drove in the first run of the game with an opposite field solo home run in the top of the second inning.
Texas Tech had an immediate answer and took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second, scoring all three runs with two outs against starter Cody Howard.
Brown launched his solo home run in the third inning to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Red Raiders scored two more runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 5-2 before Grubbs came out of the bullpen to get the Longhorns out of a bases loaded jam.
Texas Tech put the game away in the seventh inning with a pair of unearned runs to make the score 7-2.
