The Longhorns will look to bounce back and even the series on Saturday at 4 p.m.

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball dropped the series opener 5-0 to TCU, despite a solid start on the mound by Max Grubbs on Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Longhorns (22-17, 9-7) will look to bounce back and even the series on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game was moved up to 4 p.m. due to forecasted inclement weather.

Grubbs pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed just two runs, while scattering eight hits. He tied his career high with five strikeouts but was the tough-luck loser in the game.

Andre Duplantier II pitched 1 2/3 of relief and allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Peyton Powell went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Longhorns offensively.

The Horned Frogs grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a pair of doubles in the top of the first.

Texas got its first hit of the game in the fourth with a two-out single by Powell but he was caught stealing to end the inning.

The Longhorns got two more runners on in the fifth with a single by Jalin Flores and a walk by Max Belyeu but they were unable to get a run across.

TCU added to its lead in the sixth inning, starting things with a one-out triple before an RBI single drove him in. Grubbs was able to get a double play to get out of the inning without any more damage done.

The Horned Frogs tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning with a two-out solo home run to left field to make the score 3-0.

TCU was able to put the game away in the top of the ninth with a pair of insurance runs after two walks to start the inning.
