Baseball shuts out TCU to even series

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball evened the series with a 7-0 shut out win over TCU that included an hour-long weather delay on Saturday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (23-17, 10-7) will now go for the series win on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Texas jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the game went into an hour-long lightning delay in the middle of the fifth inning. Out of the delay, Ace Whitehead pitched a scoreless sixth inning before Cade O'Hara tossed the next three scoreless frames to pick up his first career save.
Whitehead started and pitched six scoreless innings, with four strikeouts and just three hits allowed to pick up his fourth win of the season.
O'Hara was outstanding in relief, with his longest career outing of three shutout innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out one.
Casey Borba had a career day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and one run scored.
Texas jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with a five-run second, sending all nine men to the plate in the inning. Max Belyeu got the inning started with a ground-rule double down the left field line. Will Gasparino drove in the first run with an RBI single to left before Rylan Galvan walked to put two runners on.
Borba kept the inning going with another RBI single to left before another walk to Dee Kennedy. With two outs, Jalin Flores hit yet another RBI single to left field to prompt a TCU pitching change. After the pitching change, Peyton Powell hit an RBI single off the first base bag that allowed Kennedy to score from second for the fifth run of the inning.
The Longhorns added to the lead in the third inning as Borba hammered a two-out two-run double to right field to make the score 7-0.
After the delay the teams traded zeroes and kept the Longhorns' 7-0 lead intact.
