Men’s Tennis preview: ITA Central Sectional Championships

Senior Jonah Braswell will play in both singles and doubles, along with sophomore Evan Burnett in doubles, while freshman Lucas Marionneau will also play singles.
Ann Arbor, Mich. – Texas Men's Tennis senior No. 37 Jonah Braswell will participate in both singles and doubles, along with partner Evan Burnett in doubles, while freshman Lucas Marionneau will also play singles at the ITA Central Sectional Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., starting Thursday.
Singles for the Longhorns will begin at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT on Thursday with Braswell squaring off against Bruno Nhavene of Oklahoma, while Marionneau will face 5 seed No. 101 Alexandru Chirita of Baylor.
Braswell and Burnett will then play doubles at approximately 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT against 2 seed No. 49 Max Dahlin and Bjorn Swenson of Michigan.
The event represents a chance for players to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. A total of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams will be in the field. From the tournament, six singles players (semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners) and three doubles teams (finalists, third place) will advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Central section encompasses the ITA Central, Midwest and Texas regions.
