THE MATCHUP — Texas is set to open its 2025 home slate, welcoming Dartmouth to UFCU Disch-Falk Field this weekend. The Longhorns and the Big Green have never met before on the diamond. Dartmouth marks the 209 different collegiate team Texas will face. The Longhorns have played four programs from the Ivy League, most recently facing Columbia in 2014.
WEEKLY HONORS JUST MEAN MORE — Following its first weekend of its inaugural season as a member of the Southeastern Conference, Texas claimed two of the three weekly league honors. Left-handed pitcher Luke Harrison garnered SEC Pitcher of the Week distinction, while infielder Adrian Rodriguez was tabbed SEC Co-Freshman of the Week. Harrison retired 16 of the first 19 batters he faced, recording a career-long 6.1 innings and a career-best six strikeouts. The southpaw surrendered just two hits and one walk to earn the victory in his third career start. Rodriguez helped the Longhorns explode for 27 runs during their tournament-title run. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound freshman slashed .429/.467/1.071 with two home runs and three RBI across the three-game classic. Rodriguez closed out the weekend with a four-hit effort, highlighted by three extra-base hits, including a home run.
MOVIN' ON UP — After picking up a pair of wins over Ole Miss and then-No. 17 Oklahoma State, the Longhorns climbed up in three polls, while holding steady at No. 7 in the Perfect Game top 25. Texas is listed 12th in the Baseball America rankings and checks in at No. 16 in both the D1Baseball and NCBWA polls.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS — With a loaded field at the Shriners Children's College Showdown, Texas downed fellow SEC foe Ole Miss and old-time rival 17th-ranked Oklahoma State to claim the tournament crown. The Longhorns were one of four programs with two wins on the weekend, but Texas posted a showdown-best plus-15 run differential to earn the title.
NEW ERA, SAME STANDARD — A 23-year head coaching veteran who was twice tabbed National Coach of the Year and led his team to the College World Series seven times, Jim Schlossnagle was named just the sixth Longhorns head baseball coach since 1911. Schlossnagle's six CWS appearances in the last 10 seasons are tied for the most of any coach (Kevin O'Sullivan, Florida), while his 50 NCAA Tournament wins during that stretch are the best of any skipper. Over his 23-year run, Schlossnagle has amassed a 946-455 (.675) mark.
A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS — Last season, Texas made its 63 NCAA Tournament appearance, earning a spot in the College Station Regional. The Longhorns bring back 18 players from the 2024 team and add 23 newcomers. Five of the Longhorns' every-day starters return, with OF Max Belyeu, C Rylan Galvan, OF Will Gasparino, INF Jalin Flores and C/1B Kimble Schuessler headlining the squad.

NEW FACES IN NEW PLACES — Texas has 23 newcomers on the 2025 roster, with 12 freshmen and 11 transfers. Freshmen hitters Cole Chamberlain and Adrian Rodriguez, and pitchers Bryce Navarre, Drew Rerick, Dylan Volantis figure to play key roles early. Transfers Kade Bing, Ethan Mendoza, Ruger Riojas, Jared Spencer and Easton Winfield are expected to contribute from the start of the season. Jim Schlossnagle also overhauled his coaching staff, bringing in associate head coach Nolan Cain and assistant coach Max Weiner. Both assistants were a part of Schlossnagle's staff at Texas A&M in 2024.
PRESEASON PRAISE — A quartet of Longhorns received preseason recognition. Outfielder Max Belyeu, infielder Jalin Flores and right-handed pitcher Ruger Riojas all garnered preseason All-America accolades. Belyeu and Flores were also named to the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list, while Riojas was tabbed to the Stopper of the Year Award watch list. Catcher Rylan Galvan joined Belyeu as preseason All-SEC honorees.
THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU — Texas entered the 2025 campaign ranked in all five major preseason polls. The Longhorns checked in as high as No. 7 by Perfect Game. Texas was also listed 13th in the USA Today Coaches Poll, No. 14 per Baseball America, 17th by the NCBWA and 19th by D1Baseball. The Longhorns have finished inside the top 25 in three of the last four seasons.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE — With their highly-anticipated move to the SEC, the Longhorns will play one of the toughest schedule in the country. Texas is slated to face seven teams in D1Baseball's preseason poll, including five of the top 10 programs. The Longhorns will play 32 home games at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, highlighted by marquee series against No. 1 Texas A&M (April 25-27), No. 3 LSU (March 21-23) and No. 5 Arkansas (May 1-3).
MAX POWER — Max Belyeu entered the 2025 campaign as one of the most prolific hitters in the country. Belyeu brings his big bat back to the heart of Texas' lineup after pacing the club in slugging percentage (.667), OPS (1.090) and multi-RBI performances (15), while matching the team lead in home runs (18). The outfielder totaled a .329 average and drove in 53 RBI en route to earning Big 12 Player of the Year honors.
GO WITH THE FLO — A consensus All-American a year ago, Jalin Flores cemented himself as one of the best offensive shortstops nationally. Flores led the Longhorns in doubles (22), RBI (56) and hit by pitches (10), while also tying for the club lead in homers (18), total bases (158), multi-hit games (26). The San Antonio, Texas native has had a flair for the dramatic throughout his career, tallying four grand slams. Flores has notched back-to-back walk-off RBI in the final regular season series in 2024.
TEXAS TANKS — In 2024, the Longhorns averaged 1.86 home runs per game, which stands as the best mark in program history. Across 60 games a year ago, Texas tallied 112 blasts, trailing only the 2022 club for the most in a single campaign. On two different occasions last season, the Longhorns matched a school record with six homers in a game — April 23 vs. UTA and April 28 at Oklahoma. Texas totaled 31 multi-homer performances in 2024. Over the last three years, the Longhorns have hit more home runs than the previous eight seasons combined.
THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT OMAHA — The winningest NCAA Division I college baseball program of all time has become very familiar with the restaurants in Omaha, Neb. Texas holds the record for most appearances in the College World Series (38), most individual CWS games won (88), most overall NCAA Tournament games won (258) and most NCAA Tournament appearances (63). The Longhorns have won six national championships, trailing only USC (12) and LSU (7).
OWN THE DISCH — Since UFCU Disch-Falk Field opened in 1975, Texas has gone 1,632-420-3 (.795) at home thanks in large part to Longhorn Nation. With the exception of the 2021 season because of limited capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas led the Big 12 in attendance for 16 consecutive campaigns. Last season, the Longhorns averaged 7,476 fans per game, the fifth-highest average attendance in the country. During the 2024 campaign, Texas set five of its six-highest attendance marks for a three-game series, highlighted by 23,570 fans across a weekend set against Cal Poly (Feb. 23-25).
IT JUST MEANS MORE — The 2025 campaign marks Texas' first season in the SEC after 28 years in the Big 12. Twelve different SEC programs were ranked in the top-25 of the major polls to begin the season. Last year, a record 11 SEC teams earned NCAA Tournament bids and five clubs advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals. The College World Series included four SEC schools. The SEC has won each of the last five national championships — all by five different teams.
traDISCHion UNLIKE ANY OTHER — The Longhorns will honor their history throughout the 2025 season, as part of the Saturday traDISCHion series at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. For the fourth consecutive campaign, Texas is celebrating past greats on select Saturdays. The Longhorns will salute Calvin Schiraldi on March 8, before recognizing Roger Clemens on March 22. Two weeks later, Texas will commemorate the 1975 national championship team on April 5. Corey Knebel is set to be honored on April 19 and Brooks Kieschnick is slated to be celebrated on April 26. The final traDISCHion Saturday of 2025 will feature the 2005 national championship team on May 10.
NOT AN OLD MAN'S GAME — Texas baseball welcomed back more than 150 alumni for its annual Alumni Game on Sat. Feb. 1. The Alumni Team featured MLB standouts Tres Barrera, Kody Clemens, John Curtiss, Bryce Elder, Duke Ellis, David Hamilton, Corey Knebel, Ty Madden and fan favorites like Cincinnati Reds farmhand Trey Faltine and New York Mets prospect Tanner Witt. Even with all the experience in the ballpark, it was a pair of freshmen who stood out the most. Rookies Cole Chamberlain and Adrian Rodriguez both launched two-run homers in the victory. Left-hander Dylan Volantis tossed three innings without allowing an earned run before righties Ruger Riojas, Aiden Moffett, Jason Flores and Drew Rerick held the alumni in check the rest of the way.
HEAR 'EM — In partnership with Learfield IMG College, Texas games will be broadcast on the Longhorn Radio Network, primarily on AM-1300 The Zone. Craig Way handles primary play-by-play duties alongside Roger Wallace. This season fans will also hear analysis from Longhorn greats Keith Moreland and Ty Harrington throughout the season.
